Construction Foreman

Greenhouse Construction

Summary: 
The person in this position is responsible for directly supervising the construction of greenhouse building structures or other construction. This is a safety sensitive position because this is a hands-on foreman position working alongside the construction crews on installation of all types of our buildings from metal, beam, truss and greenhouses.  This person will be driving to construction sites in a construction company vehicle, will be using a variety of power and hand tools, operating forklifts, scissor lifts and man lifts. 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the work activities of greenhouse construction crews assigned to assemble greenhouses or other construction as determined by the General Manager. Provide input on their performance to the General Manager.
  2. Prepare worksites for assembly and placement of greenhouses or other construction structures.
  3. Respond to customer inquiries and complaints regarding installations.
  4. Mobilize and protect necessary construction equipment.
  5. Insure all parts and materials are available on campus or on customer site.
  6. Monitor quality of the installation and report any problems or potential problems to the General Manager.
  7. Document and photograph progress of the greenhouse projects.
  8. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledges, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures related to human resources management
  • Knowledge of building codes and restrictions
  • Knowledge of safety policies and regulations
  • Knowledge of construction requirements and techniques
  • Ability to define and solve specific customer problems associated with installation
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Skilled at using construction tools and equipment.

Working Conditions:

Travel will be required to customer site to perform work. Frequently requires physical labor typical of construction activities, which includes lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Working outside is required, sometimes in harsh weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to read and follow complex instructions and read blueprints and schematics, plus one year of construction experience
  • Clean driving record

Pay Range:

$25.00 – $35.00 per hour

Job Purpose 

Greenhouse System Installers will travel throughout the Midwest to assemble and install greenhouse systems (including pre-engineered greenhouse structure, glazing systems, heating and cooling systems, growing systems, shade systems, and irrigation). Projects include varying sizes of commercial greenhouses in the wholesale nursery and commercial food production industries. 

Job Duties 

Read and interpret pre-engineered building drawings (blue prints) 

Determine the materials required and plan the sequence of tasks 

Prepare material prior to assembly 

Hoisting and guiding components into place 

Working from mobile elevated work platforms (scissor lifts) 

Install pre-engineered structure to manufacturer specifications 

Install glazing system 

Install heating and cooling systems, to include installation of evaporative cooling systems and exhaust fans 

Install growing systems 

Install shade systems 

Complete housekeeping duties as required 

Comply with all Jackson AgroBuilders health and safety policies and procedures, and local government health safety regulations
